The Sevier River is formed by the confluence of Minnie Creek and Tyler Creek in Long Valley in Kane County. The headwaters are at an elevation of 7,310 ft (2,230 m) between the Markagunt Plateau (on the west) and the Paunsaugunt Plateau.
